Christian Lacroix, who sat out Paris Week after declaring bankruptcy early this year, may soon be bailed out by a Middle Eastern sheikh with tons of oil money.
The French court announced that it received a serious bid from Hassan Bin Al Nuaimi that it deemed satisfactory. Lacroix was loosing over $10 million a year when its financial partner decided to bail. Nuaimi is the nephew of the ruler of Ajman which is part of the United Arab EmiratesAccording to the New York Post the situation is worse than ever …. Abercrombie & Fitch launched a lawsuit against Beyoncé over the name of her soon to be launched perfume in partnership with Coty. The singer wants to name it Sasha Fierce after her ultra ego.
However A&F have had a trademark fragrance called Fierce out in the market since 2002. Beyoncé is expected to make about $20 million over the next 3 years from royalties once the problems are sorted out.
Last year a French court awarded LV a $63 million dollar judgment against eBay for its role in selling LV labelled counterfeit goods. Total damages are now close to $100 million dollars.
